Orix Buffaloes vs Fukuoka S. Hawks

SoftBank struck first, manufacturing runs across the middle innings to create a cushion Orix could not bridge. The game swung decisively in the fifth and sixth innings when SoftBank's lineup strung together back-to-back multi-hit frames to stretch a one-run lead into a commanding margin. SoftBank's six runs on a day when neither team committed an error points to sustained offensive pressure rather than gifts from the defence. Orix generated enough traffic to suggest a different result on another day, but the middle-inning separation proved insurmountable.

The win keeps SoftBank firmly atop the Pacific League standings, 6.5 games clear of second-placed Saitama Seibu Lions and 8.5 ahead of Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters as of the weekend's results. For Orix, who entered the series on a mixed run (wins in four of their previous eight), the loss leaves them 16 games off the pace with a .487 record — still mathematically alive but needing a long winning streak to re-enter the race.
