Kyoei vs Riseisha

Kyoei struck first in the bottom of the 1st inning, putting a run on the board against Riseisha ace Hayate Kimura to take an early lead. But the response came swiftly.

In the top of the 2nd with two outs and a runner on second, Riseisha third-year Daisuke Miki stroked a left-field RBI single to knot the game at 1–1. The score stayed level until the 4th, when second-year Kaichi Kitanishi led off with a right-field double and, after advancing to third, was driven home by a center-field RBI single from third-year Fuyuma Takatsu — again with two outs.

From there, Kimura took over. After allowing the first-inning run, he settled into a groove, holding Kyoei scoreless from the 2nd through the 8th innings while his lineup built the lead. Riseisha padded the margin in the 8th, scoring twice with two outs on a hit from Kitanishi. They added two more in the 9th for a commanding 6–1 cushion.

Kyoei got one back in the bottom of the 9th but never seriously threatened a comeback, stranding runners in five of nine innings.

The 4th inning proved decisive. With Kitanishi's double and Takatsu's RBI single, Riseisha took the lead for good — and Kimura made it stand up. Kyoei put at least one runner on base in six of the first seven innings but could not deliver the two-out hit that would have changed the complexion of the game.

• Hayate Kimura (Riseisha, P, 3rd year): Complete-game victory, allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on 8 hits with 8 strikeouts over 9 innings. After a rocky first, he retired 12 of 14 batters through the middle innings.
• Kaichi Kitanishi (Riseisha, 2nd year): The biggest bat of the day — 2-for-4 with a double, 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. His fourth-inning double set up the go-ahead run, and his two-out hit in the 8th broke the game open.
• Fuyuma Takatsu (Riseisha, 3rd year): Delivered the go-ahead RBI single in the 4th, finishing 1-for-3 with a walk and the game's most important swing.

Riseisha out-hit Kyoei 11–8 and committed one fewer error (1 to 2). The final 6–2 scoreline flatters the margin slightly — Kyoei had baserunners in seven of nine innings but could not deliver the knockout blow. Riseisha's 11 hits were spread across eight different batters, a testament to lineup depth. The game featured no home runs; all scoring came via singles, doubles and well-placed two-out hits. Kyoei went 0-for-their-last-5 with runners in scoring position after the 1st inning.

Riseisha advanced to the third round (Round of 16) of the Summer Kōshien. For Kyoei, the loss ended their national tournament run. Riseisha would go on to face Mie in the third round on August 15, falling 5–2.

A classic Kōshien contest decided by two-out hitting. Riseisha's Kimura reminded everyone why tournament pitching wins championships, while Kyoei's inability to score with runners in scoring position proved fatal. The box-score stats were closer than the final margin suggests, but Riseisha's execution in high-leverage situations — particularly the 4th and 8th innings — was the difference a betting line would have rewarded.
