Bravos de Leon vs Tabasco

The game began Thursday 13 August and was suspended by rain after the bottom of the fourth with Bravos leading 8-7. When it resumed Friday, Tabasco wasted no time regaining control.

First inning — Tabasco's fast start. The Olmecas sent nine men to the plate in the top of the first. Oscar González singled home Calvin Estrada, Phillip Ervin drove in Seth Beer, and Agustín Ruiz added an RBI single. Jasson Atondo also scored on a fielder's choice, making it 4-0 before Bravos recorded their third out.

León's immediate answer. Gabriel Cancel crushed a three-run homer in the bottom of the first, and Aderlin Rodríguez followed with a solo shot to tie the game 4-4. In the second, Rodríguez doubled in a run and Connor Panas launched a two-run homer to give Bravos a 7-4 lead.

Tabasco claws back. Seth Beer answered with a two-run homer in the third — his first of the game — and Phillip Ervin doubled to score Oscar González, tying the game 7-7. But León responded again in the bottom half: Luis Medina singled home Jimmy Kerrigan to restore the lead at 8-7.

Rain brings a pause. The game was halted after the bottom of the fourth. It resumed Friday with no further scoring until the fifth, when Agustín Ruiz — who had homered in Game 4 as well — crushed his second solo shot of the series to tie the game 8-8.

The decisive moment came in the seventh inning. With runners on first and second, José Godoy lined a single to right field that scored Marco Hernández and Agustín Ruiz, giving Tabasco a 10-8 lead they would not relinquish.

Tabasco broke the game open in the ninth. Carlos Arellano doubled to score Angelo Castellano and Luis González (12-8), Calvin Estrada followed with an RBI double (13-8), and Seth Beer capped his monster night with an RBI single to center (14-8).

Connor Panas hit his second homer of the game in the bottom of the ninth for Bravos, but it was too little, too late.

• Connor Panas (Bravos): 2 home runs, 3 RBIs. His two-run blast in the second put Bravos up 7-4 and his solo shot in the ninth was his second of the night.
• Agustín Ruiz (Tabasco): 2 hits including a solo home run, 2 RBIs, 2 runs. His fifth-inning homer tied the game at 8-8 and swung momentum.
• José Godoy (Tabasco): Game-changing 2-run single in the seventh that put Tabasco ahead to stay.

Tabasco out-hit Bravos 20-11 and committed zero errors to León's one. The Olmecas scored in four separate innings (1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th) with crooked numbers in three of them (4, 3, 4). León's 11 hits were concentrated in the first three innings (7 runs across the 1st and 2nd) before Tabasco's bullpen — led by winner Francis Peguero (1.1 IP, 0 ER) — shut them down. Peguero entered in the seventh and allowed just one hit. Phillips Valdez (2.0 IP, 4 ER) took the loss for Bravos.

The 20-hit, 14-run outburst was Tabasco's highest-scoring playoff game of 2026. Bravos, who led 8-7 when the game was suspended Thursday, managed just 2 runs and 4 hits after play resumed Friday.

Tabasco now leads the best-of-seven First Round series 3-2 and needs one more win to advance to the Zone Series. Bravos face elimination. Game 6 will be played on Sunday 16 August at Estadio Centenario in Villahermosa, Tabasco — the Olmecas' home ballpark — with first pitch scheduled for 17:00 local time (23:00 BST).

Tabasco's offence was relentless, collecting 20 hits spread across five scoring innings, and their bullpen held firm after a chaotic opening. Bravos can point to their 8-7 lead at the rain delay as a missed opportunity — they managed nothing after the third inning. Game 6 now becomes a must-win for León.
