Game 3 of the best-of-seven Series de Zona followed the pattern that has defined this series — explosive offence from Caliente and dogged resistance from Monterrey that ultimately fell short.

Caliente de Durango now lead the best-of-seven Zona Norte semifinal 2-1. Game 4 is scheduled for later on Saturday 22 August at Walmart Park (23:00 UTC), and Caliente can take a commanding 3-1 lead with another win.

For Monterrey, the margin for error is nearly gone. The Sultanes must win Game 4 to avoid falling into a 3-1 hole. If necessary, Game 5 would be Sunday 23 August at Walmart Park.

The other Zona Norte semifinal between Toros de Tijuana and Charros de Jalisco is currently tied 2-2 (Tijuana won Game 4 on 22 August 2-1), with Game 5 scheduled for 23 August.

Caliente de Durango have been the better team since Game 1, and the scoreboard reflects it. Their offence is firing on all cylinders, their pitching is making key stops, and they have Monterrey's back against the wall at home.
