Oda's third pitch registered 156km/h (96.9mph) on the stadium gun — the fastest pitch ever recorded in a Koshien tournament game, breaking the previous 155km/h mark shared by Ishigaki Genki (2025), Amachi Tomotaka (2013) and Sato Yoshinori (2007). His fourth pitch came in at 155km/h for a called strike three.

With one out and the bases still loaded, Oda induced the next batter to hit a grounder to second base for a 6-4-3 double play, extinguishing Nichinan Gakuen's best — and last — real scoring threat.

The momentum swung instantly. In the top of the seventh, with two outs and a runner on second, Chishima Daitsubasa launched a go-ahead RBI triple to break the deadlock. Ono followed with another run-scoring hit, and Ikeda Seima added a third consecutive RBI knock as Yokohama plated four runs in the frame.

Nichinan Gakuen hit into four double plays over the course of the game and committed three errors, compounding their offensive struggles.

Yokohama put the game beyond any doubt in the ninth. Esaka Yoshifumi crushed a grand slam — his first home run at Koshien — to cap a five-run inning that stretched the lead to 10–1. Esaka, who said he had "dreamed of this Koshien stage," sent a message to the dugout with the emphatic blast.

Chishima Daitsubasa (Yokohama) — Go-ahead two-out RBI triple in the seventh that flipped the game. Also contributed in the nine-run surge.

Ono Shuntomo (Yokohama) — The captain drove in the first run of the game in the third and added another RBI in Yokohama's four-run seventh. Finished with multiple RBIs.

Shimogawa Genji (Nichinan Gakuen) — Brought his team level at 1–1 with a fourth-inning RBI single. The lone bright spot on offense for Nichinan.

Yokohama out-hit Nichinan Gakuen 10–6, but the raw tally understates the gap. Nichinan's three errors and four double plays meant they never built sustained pressure beyond the sixth-inning rally. Yokohama's 10 hits came in concentrated bursts — four in the seventh and five in the ninth — reflecting a lineup that punished mistakes once Oda had shifted the game's emotional centre of gravity.

Nichinan starter Taniguchi held Yokohama to one run through five innings and deserved a better fate. But the bullpen mismanagement — or absence of a second quality arm — proved fatal when Oda entered and shut down the bases-loaded threat.

Yokohama advance to the Round of 16 (third round) of the 108th Summer Koshien, keeping alive their bid for a national championship. The 10–1 scoreline, while lopsided, reflects a team that found its explosive gear late rather than cruising from the start — a quality that could prove valuable against deeper competition.

For Nichinan Gakuen (Miyazaki), the tournament ends in the second round. Their double-play trouble (four in one game) and defensive miscues (three errors) against quality opposition proved too much to overcome despite a gutsy start.

Yokohama's next opponent in the Round of 16 was to be determined as the bracket continued on Day 11 of the tournament.

This was a game of two distinct halves: a taut pitchers' duel through six innings, followed by a Yokohama demolition job triggered by one of the great Koshien relief appearances. Oda's 156km/h record and bases-loaded escape will be the lasting images, but Esaka's grand slam and the lineup's two-out destruction in the seventh and ninth showed a complete team. Nichinan Gakuen competed for six innings but had no answer once Yokohama's ace changed the game.
