Chinatrust Brothers vs Fubon Guardians

Chinatrust struck first in the third. Chang Jen-Wei singled, moved to third on a Tseng Sung-En single, and scored when Chen Chun-Hsiu beat out an infield single. Chiang Kun-Yu followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 2–0 Brothers.

Brothers starter Mario Sanchez (8–7) dominated through five scoreless frames, punching out eight while allowing only three hits. But the sixth inning unravelled.

Chang Yu-Cheng (Yu Chang) led off with a single. Fan Guo-Chen walked. Wang Yi-Cheng then drove a 1–0 pitch over the right-field wall — his sixth homer of the season — to flip the score to 3–2 Fubon.

Fubon's eight hits were fewer than the Brothers managed (11), but the Guardians outscored them 6–4. The difference: Fubon's one home run produced three of their six runs, while Chinatrust had zero extra-base hits despite 11 knocks. The Brothers also committed a costly seventh-inning error that extended Fubon's three-run rally. Sanchez's 8 K over 5.2 IP (12.7 K/9) underscores how dominant he was before the sixth-inning meltdown.

The loss drops the Brothers to 19–17 in second-half play and knocks them from the top of the standings, per UDN and Central News Agency. Fubon improves to 14–18. The two sides conclude their three-game series on Sunday, 30 August at Taichung Intercontinental Baseball Stadium.

A classic tale of a starter who was brilliant until he wasn't. Sanchez cruised for five frames, but Wang Yi-Cheng's sixth-inning blast flipped the game on one pitch. Fubon's bullpen held firm (3.0 IP, 2 ER across four relievers), and Tseng Chun-Yueh locked down the save. The Brothers' 11-hit, zero-homer night underscores their inability to punish mistakes when it mattered.
