Seattle Mariners vs Philadelphia Phillies

Zack Wheeler (PHI) — L (10-5) 4.0 IP, 9 H, 8 ER, 5 BB, 4 K, 4 HR allowed. Wheeler's 103-pitch outing was his worst of 2026; he had allowed four home runs in a start just once before in his career.

Julio Rodríguez (SEA) 2-for-5, 2 R, 3 RBI, HR (20). His 3-run blast in the 1st was the game's biggest swing, turning a 1-0 deficit into a 4-1 lead.

Seranthony Domínguez (SEA) 2.0 scoreless IP, 0 H, 0 BB, 2 K. Retired all six batters he faced, stabilising the game after Gilbert's exit.

The final box score — Seattle out-hitting Philadelphia 10-5 — understates the game's lopsided reality. The Mariners hit four home runs (Raleigh 3, Rodríguez, Young) while the Phillies managed only one (Realmuto). Wheeler entered the game with a 3.16 ERA and left with a 3.40 mark, surrendering as many earned runs in four innings (8) as he had in his previous three starts combined (7 across 18.0 IP). Seattle's 5-run 1st was their highest-scoring opening frame of the season.

Seattle's bullpen was flawless: Domínguez, Gabe Speier, and Carlos Vargas combined for four scoreless innings, allowing zero hits and striking out three.

The Mariners improved to 63-69, pulling within 6.5 games of the third AL Wild Card spot. The Phillies dropped to 73-59, still second in the NL East but now 5.0 games behind the division-leading Braves. Philadelphia's nine-game winning streak — tied for their longest of the season — came to an abrupt end.

Seattle snapped a two-game losing streak and evened this three-game series at one game apiece ahead of Wednesday's rubber match.
