Atlanta Braves vs Colorado Rockies

Atlanta struck first in the bottom of the third. Sean Murphy launched a solo home run to centre on a 1–0 count — his second of the season — to open the scoring. Later in the same frame, Ronald Acuña Jr. singled to left, plating Austin Riley (who had doubled) for a 2–0 Braves lead.

Rockies starter Mason Adams settled after the third, finishing with 5 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 2 BB and 5 K — a quality-enough start to keep Colorado within reach.

The Rockies halved the deficit in the sixth. Jake McCarthy led off with a solo homer to right off Mahle, his 14th of the season. Mahle responded, retiring the next three batters, and exited after 6⅔ with 9 strikeouts and zero walks — his finest outing of 2026.

Colorado tied it in the eighth. Brett Sullivan singled off Dylan Lee, moved up on a sacrifice, and scored on Connor Norby's two-out single to left, making it 2–2.

The score held through nine, sending the game to extras.

With the Manfred runner at second to start the 10th, Rockies reliever Ryan Feltner — who had thrown four scoreless innings in relief — faced Baldwin. After Baldwin reached base, Acuña Jr. singled to left. With runners at the corners and one out, Matt Olson lined a single to right on a 1–1 count. Baldwin raced home, and the Braves walked off for the second time in five days.

• Matt Olson (ATL) — 1-for-5, walk-off RBI single (79th RBI of the season). Delivered when it mattered most after a quiet day at the plate.

Atlanta out-hit Colorado 10–7 but left nine runners on base, going 2-for-13 with runners in scoring position. Mahle's 9:0 K:BB ratio dominated the middle innings — he generated 14 swinging strikes on 89 pitches — but the Braves bullpen allowed the Rockies to square it after his exit. The Rockies committed one error (Willi Castro, his 12th), which contributed to the winning run being unearned. Braves relievers combined for a 2.70 ERA across 3⅓ IP.

The Braves improved to 82–55, maintaining their lead atop the NL East with a 44–21 home record — best in the National League. Atlanta have won four of their last five. The Rockies fell to 52–85, second-worst in the NL, and have lost eight of their last 11.

Mahle's start was the story through seven, but Atlanta's inability to widen the 2–0 lead meant the bullpen had no margin. Olson's 10th-inning single salvaged a series win for a Braves team that continues to grind out close games at home. The Rockies showed fight but lack the pitching depth to hold off a contender in extra innings.
