El Paso Chihuahuas vs Salt Lake Bees

Kerry was untouchable through six innings, carrying a no-hitter into the seventh before Nick Solak broke it up with a two-out single to right field. By that point, Salt Lake had already built an insurmountable lead.

The Bees jumped on rehabbing Padres righty Joe Musgrove in the second inning. After a leadoff strikeout, Jeimer Candelario and Raudi Rodriguez strung together back-to-back singles, and Omar Martinez crushed his 11th home run of the season off the right-field bricks for a 3-0 lead.

Salt Lake added two more in the third. Kyren Paris walked to lead off, Niko Kavadas singled him home, and Candelario drove in a run on a fielder's choice. The score stayed 5-0 until the seventh, when the Bees broke it open. Martinez doubled home Rodriguez, Bryce Teodosio doubled home Martinez, and Logan Porter reached on an error to plate Teodosio, making it 8-0.

El Paso got on the board in the eighth when a one-out double was followed by an RBI single. The Chihuahuas added a second run in the ninth, but Kaleb Ort entered with two outs and slammed the door with a strikeout.

Martinez's three-run homer in the second inning changed the complexion of the game before Musgrove had settled in. The Padres' rehabber entered with a 70-pitch limit and was efficient, but the early damage — five runs across 4.2 innings — gave Kerry all the cushion he needed. Once El Paso was playing from behind, their run-manufacturing approach (six stolen bases across the series but none on Friday) was neutralised.

Brett Kerry (SLC) — Player of the Match: 7.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 2 K, season-high 7 innings, quality start. Kerry retired the first 13 batters he faced, carried a perfect game into the fifth and a no-hitter into the seventh. It was his third quality start of the season and his longest outing since September 2025. The righty also notched his 250th career Triple-A strikeout in the fourth inning.

Omar Martinez (SLC): 3-for-4, 2 R, 2B, HR, 4 RBI. His three-run homer was his 11th of the season, nine of which have come on the road. The four-RBI game was his highest single-game total at any level since May 2025.

Joe Musgrove (ELP): 4.2 IP, 5 R, 5 K, 0 BB, 70 pitches. In his second MLB rehab start for San Diego, Musgrove threw strikes (47 of 70 for strikes) but couldn't escape the second-inning damage. Across his two Chihuahuas outings, he has seven strikeouts and one walk in eight innings.

Ethan Salas (ELP): 2-for-4 with an RBI. The 20-year-old catcher has reached base safely in all 13 of his Triple-A games since his call-up.

Kerry threw 88 pitches, 50 for strikes — a 56.8% strike rate that reflects an efficient, pitch-to-contact approach rather than overpowering stuff (only two strikeouts). But the zero on the scoreboard tells the story: he induced weak contact and kept the ball on the ground. Musgrove, by contrast, threw 70 pitches with a much better strike rate (67.1%) but was bitten by the long ball — Martinez's homer accounted for three of the five runs he allowed.

El Paso's two runs came from eight hits, but they went 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position until the eighth inning, when the game was already decided. Salt Lake strung together 12 hits, with eight of nine starters recording at least one.

The Bees evened the series at 2-2 and improved to 14-7 on Fridays — the best single-day record of any day of the week this season. Salt Lake (52-65, 13-30) remains in the bottom half of the PCL standings but has shown fight in the second half. El Paso (49-68, 14-28) is also well out of playoff contention but has been competitive in this series, splitting the first four games.

A clinical, no-doubt result. Kerry's seven shutout innings were the best individual pitching performance of this series, and the Bees' offence did exactly what it needed to: strike early, extend late, and never let El Paso breathe. The Chihuahuas' inability to score against Kerry when he was vulnerable (the bases-loaded jam in the seventh) was the difference between a tight game and a rout.
