El Paso Chihuahuas vs Salt Lake Bees

El Paso built an early lead and carried it through eight innings. Shortstop Mason McCoy went 3-for-3 with a double, a walk and three stolen bases. His third hit was his 300th of his Chihuahuas career, making him the seventh player in franchise history to reach that mark. McCoy also moved his season stolen-base total to 30, tied for second in the Pacific Coast League.

The teams meet again on Sunday (16 August) at 12:05 p.m. MT at Southwest University Park for the series finale, with Salt Lake RHP Caden Dana (2-5, 5.63 ERA) facing El Paso RHP Andrew Thurman (0-1, 8.64 ERA).

El Paso played winning baseball for eight innings — McCoy reached a franchise milestone, Castañon went deep, and the running game was relentless. But baseball is nine innings. Salt Lake's four-run ninth was the kind of rally that can define a road series, flipping control in a single frame. The Chihuahuas will look to rebound in Sunday's finale.
