Round Rock Express vs Sugar Land

Round Rock jumped out immediately. DH Logan O'Hoppe laced a two-run double into the right-centre gap in the bottom of the first, scoring two runners and giving the Express a 2-0 lead.

An inning later, Alejandro Osuna crushed a three-run home run 411 feet to right field — his second homer with the Express and his longest of the season. The blast made it 5-0 and capped a rapid start for the home side.

In the third, Orlando Martinez added a two-run single to right, pushing the lead to 7-0 after three frames.

The Space Cowboys (31-14, 63-56) refused to fold. Joey Loperfido led off the fourth with a single, CJ Alexander and Collin Price drew back-to-back walks, and Trenton Brooks delivered a two-run single. After Zach Cole walked to reload the bases, Cavan Biggio smashed a bases-clearing triple off the wall that narrowly missed clearing it altogether, cutting Round Rock's lead to 7-5.

It was Biggio's third three-RBI game of the season and his fifth triple.

Round Rock steadied in the middle innings. Marc Church entered from the bullpen and struck out six of the eight batters he faced across two innings — all six punchouts came on the slider, with 11 whiffs on 18 swings. Church earned the win, his 6 K's tying his professional career high.

Danny Jansen, on a rehab assignment with the Express, singled in a run in the sixth to make it 8-5. The 31-year-old catcher finished 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI, hitting safely in four of his five games in the series.

Round Rock broke the game open in the seventh. Keyber Rodriguez hit a sacrifice fly, Orlando Martinez launched a two-run homer — his first as an Express player after three with Double-A Frisco — and John Taylor doubled in another, extending the lead to 12-5.

• Trenton Brooks (Sugar Land): 3-for-4 with 2 RBI. Extended his on-base streak to 11 games and hitting streak to six.

Round Rock scored nine of their 12 runs with two outs — a notable turnaround for a team that entered the game with the lowest two-out batting average in the PCL in August (.184). The Express pushed seven runs across the first three innings for the fifth time this season and are 5-0 in those games. Sugar Land starter RHP Trey Supak (ND) lasted just 3.0 innings, his shortest start since June, walking four batters for the first time since April.

Sugar Land (31-14 second half, 63-56 overall) still leads the PCL East by five games over Oklahoma City despite the loss, with Round Rock (25-20, 56-64) sitting third, six games back. The Space Cowboys finished their 12-game road trip and return to Constellation Field. Round Rock claimed just their second win of the six-game series, stopping a two-game skid.

Round Rock's early barrage — seven runs in three innings — gave them enough cushion to weather Sugar Land's four-run fourth. Marc Church's dominant two-inning relief stint was the bridge the Express needed, and their two-out hitting, a season-long weakness, flipped decisively. For Sugar Land, the offensive fightback showed resilience, but a shaky start and a quiet final five innings ended their road trip on a flat note.
