Tacoma Rainiers vs Salt Lake Bees

Tacoma opened the scoring in the third inning when catcher Willie MacIver launched a solo home run off Bees starter Joel Hurtado — his second long ball of the season.

Salt Lake answered emphatically in the middle innings. With Hurtado settling in after the homer, the Bees scored two in the fourth and two more in the fifth, building a 4-1 lead. Bryce Teodosio drove in two runs with a pair of singles and Raudi Rodriguez added an RBI triple.

The Rainiers chipped away steadily. A run in the sixth and another in the seventh cut the lead to 4-3. Salt Lake restored a two-run cushion with a run in the eighth, but Tacoma answered immediately in the home half on Miles Mastrobuoni's two-out RBI single, making it 5-4.

Trailing 6-4 entering the ninth after Salt Lake scored an unearned run, Tacoma faced Bees closer Kaleb Ort. Jones crushed a 1-0 pitch to right field with a runner on base, tying the game 6-6 and handing Ort his fourth blown save of the season.

With the score tied, the Rainiers loaded the bases in the 10th against Bees reliever Brady Choban (1-2). Facing a drawn-in infield, Choban issued an intentional walk to Lazaro Montes to load the bases, then walked Victor Labrada on four pitches to force in the winning run. The walk-off walk capped a 10-inning game that lasted 3 hours, 31 minutes.

Miles Mastrobuoni (Tacoma): 3-for-4 with a walk, an RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base. The second baseman was on base four times and scored the tying run in the ninth.

Willie MacIver (Tacoma): 3-for-5 with a solo home run. The catcher also picked off Yolmer Sánchez at third base in the seventh — a subtle momentum-shifting play.

Kyren Paris (Salt Lake): 3-for-4 with two walks, an RBI and a run scored. The shortstop reached base five times out of the leadoff spot.

Nolan Jones (Tacoma): 1-for-5, but the hit was the game-tying two-run homer in the ninth off Ort. Jones entered the game hitting .196 on the season.

Bryce Teodosio (Salt Lake): 3-for-5 with two RBI and two stolen bases.

Tacoma out-hit Salt Lake 16-13 but needed the extra frame to decide it. The Rainiers drew only three walks against Bees pitchers — but two of them came in the decisive 10th inning, including the walk-off free pass. Salt Lake stranded 12 runners and went 4-for-15 with runners in scoring position, a middling return given their 13-hit day. The Rainiers managed just 2-for-11 with RISP through eight innings before Jones' homer and the 10th-inning rally.

Tacoma starter Jhonathan Díaz lasted 5.0 innings, allowing four earned runs on six hits with three walks and four strikeouts. Salt Lake's Joel Hurtado went 5.1 innings, allowing two earned runs on eight hits with zero walks and three strikeouts — a quality start that the Bees' bullpen could not protect.

Tacoma improved to 28-28 in Pacific Coast League play and 62-70 overall. Salt Lake fell to 19-36 in the PCL and 58-72 overall. The Bees have lost three straight and five of their last six away from home.

A game that drifted away from Tacoma for four innings was rescued by one swing from Jones, then finished with a patient at-bat from Labrada. Salt Lake wasted a solid start from Hurtado and a 13-hit attack, undone by Ort's blown save (his fourth) and a 10th-inning walk that sealed their third straight loss.
