El Calor de Cancun vs Astros

El Calor's inability to consistently score from deep carried into Game 2. After shooting 17.9% from three in the opener, the Cancún side could not force Astros to respect the perimeter, allowing Jalisco to pack the paint. The result was a second consecutive game in which El Calor failed to reach 80 points on home court.

Gage Davis (Astros) — Davis followed up his 15-point, 7-rebound Game 1 with another strong all-around performance as Astros' primary scoring threat.

William Yoakum (Astros) — Yoakum's 15 points in Game 1 set the tone, and he remained a consistent option in the sweep.

Brevin Galloway (El Calor de Cancún) — Galloway's 13 points in Game 1 were a bright spot for a team that scored only 50. He was again among the top scorers in Game 2 as El Calor improved its offensive output by 29 points.

Lynval Ellis (El Calor de Cancún) — Ellis contributed 8 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists in Game 1 and was part of the improved effort in the second match.

Player of the series: Gage Davis — consistent scoring and rebounding across both games.

Astros outscored El Calor 177-129 across the two-game series, a +48 point differential. The biggest gap came in Game 1's third quarter (19-7) and fourth quarter (29-14). El Calor's scoring improved from 50 to 79 in Game 2 — a 58% jump — but Astros remained in control of both contests wire-to-wire. The Jalisco defence held El Calor under 80 points in both meetings, and the Cancún side shot just 5-of-28 from three in Game 1.

Sweeping the series gave Astros a 10-4 record (22 points) while El Calor dropped to 4-10 (17 points).

Astros de Jalisco (10-4) sit at the top of the LNBP standings alongside the league's elite, with back-to-back road wins to open the seventh series of the season. El Calor de Cancún (4-10) remains anchored near the bottom with four wins in 14 games, having now lost four of their five home games at Poliforum Cancún.

Astros travel to face Freseros de Irapuato on August 29-30 for their next series. El Calor de Cancún continue their home stretch against Soles de Mexicali on August 30-31.

Astros are the class of the LNBP early this season — deep, disciplined, and capable of winning by blowout or grind. For El Calor, the 29-point improvement from Game 1 to Game 2 is a small but meaningful sign of fight, but the gap between these two sides remains wide.
