Cameroon vs Tunisia

Cameroon set the tone early. Missi controlled the interior while Fabien Ateba knocked down four three-pointers to finish with 14 points. Cameroon broke the game open in the second quarter, outscoring Tunisia 22-13 to carry a 37-26 lead into halftime. The third quarter was even more decisive: a 30-15 blitz pushed the lead past 25 points before Cameroon coasted through the final period.

After a competitive first quarter (15-13), Cameroon's defensive intensity rose sharply in the second period. Tunisia managed just 13 points while shooting 4-of-14 from the field. Jeremiah Hill orchestrated the offence with 6 assists, and Tamenang Choh added 5 assists and 4 steals, constantly disrupting Tunisia's half-court sets. The 14-point halftime deficit forced Tunisia to chase, and they never got closer than 12 in the second half.

• Fabien Ateba (CMR) — 14 pts, 4-of-9 from three-point range. His spacing stretched Tunisia's defence wide.
• Tamenang Choh (CMR) — 4 pts, 6 reb, 5 ast, 4 stl. A disruptive defensive presence despite limited scoring.
• Yacine Toumi (TUN) — 19 pts, 7-of-10 FG, 3-of-5 3PT. The lone bright spot for Tunisia, efficient from all levels.
• Omar Abada (TUN) — 16 pts, 5 ast, but needed 16 shots to get there (4-of-16 FG, 0-of-6 inside the arc).

Cameroon's 50-27 rebounding advantage told the story. Missi alone matched Tunisia's entire starting frontcourt. The 23-rebound gap led to 12 second-chance points for Cameroon. From three-point range, Cameroon shot 41.4% (12/29) against Tunisia's 29.4% (10/34) — a 12-point difference from beyond the arc that essentially decided the game before the fourth quarter.

Tunisia committed 14 turnovers leading to easy transition looks for Cameroon. The hosts also shot just 68.8% from the free-throw line (11/16) compared to Cameroon's 68.4% (13/19). Neither team shot particularly well overall (CMR 43.1%, TUN 31.7%), but Cameroon's edge on the glass and from deep was insurmountable.

Cameroon (7-1) solidify their place atop Group E with a two-game cushion, having won seven consecutive qualifiers dating back to their opening loss of the First Round. The top two teams from each Second Round group advance to the 2027 FIBA World Cup in Qatar. Tunisia drop to 4-3, now tied with Nigeria and South Sudan in the scramble for second place behind Cameroon.

Cameroon's next fixture is against Guinea on 30 August at the same venue in Radès. Tunisia face South Sudan on 30 August in what could be a decisive clash for second place.

Cameroon are the class of Group E and look every bit a World Cup-bound side. Missi's two-way dominance gives them an interior anchor few African teams can match, while Hill and Ateba provide perimeter firepower. Tunisia, on home soil, lacked answers once Cameroon's defensive pressure intensified in the second quarter. They will need to regroup quickly for Sunday's meeting with South Sudan.
