Skanderborg AGF arrived seeking revenge for last season's DM-finale series loss, and for long stretches they gave Aalborg everything they could handle. The scoreline stayed tight throughout the first half — Aalborg took a slender 17–16 lead into the break, a margin that reflected the physical, back-and-forth tempo both teams brought.

The match swung decisively in the second period when Aalborg playmaker Thomas Arnoldsen collected his third two-minute suspension and was sent off, leaving the hosts a man down at a critical juncture. Rather than retreat, Aalborg tightened defensively and leaned on their deeper bench.

Inside the final minute, with the score at 30–28, Niklas Landin produced the defining moment — a save on Johan Hansen, who had broken free on the wing. Juri Knorr orchestrated much of Aalborg's attack and was instrumental in keeping the rhythm after Arnoldsen's dismissal. "It means a lot to us to win a title, and it was a good start to the season," Knorr told TV 2 Sport. "It was a tough game today. We didn't play our best, but we won, so we can be satisfied."

Niklas Landin was the difference in goal, particularly in the closing stages. His save rate in the final 10 minutes — including the decisive stop on Hansen — underlined why Aalborg brought him back to Danish handball this summer.

For Skanderborg, Jeppe Cieslak was a standout. "I repeat myself a little, just like after the DM finals — it was close, but not quite," Cieslak told TV 2 Sport. "We can take a lot from this. Our will and spirit are things we can build on when you consider we're playing one of the best teams in the world."

The 31–28 scoreline looks comfortable on paper, but the one-goal half-time margin (17–16) tells a different story. Aalborg's ability to absorb Arnoldsen's red card and still extend the lead by three goals over the final 25 minutes points to squad depth that few Danish sides can match. Aalborg have now won nine of their ten meetings with Skanderborg AGF since 2023, including the last six in a row. The only SAH victory in that run came in December 2024.

Aalborg collect their second Super Cup title — adding to the one they won in 2025 — and set down a marker ahead of the Herre Handbold Ligaen season. They open their league campaign at home to GOG on 30 August 2026. Skanderborg AGF, silver medallists in both the league and Super Cup this calendar year, begin their league season on the same weekend with a trip to Fredericia.

For a betting audience, Aalborg's form trajectory is clear: they are unbeaten in six head-to-head meetings with SAH and have now won two consecutive Super Cups. Skanderborg continue to narrow the gap — three of the last four meetings have been decided by three goals or fewer — but the trophy count remains one-sided.

Aalborg were far from their best, but championship teams win when they underperform. The red card to Arnoldsen became a test of character they passed comfortably.
