Jana Scheib opened the scoring inside the first minute for the hosts, but Buxtehude responded quickly. Johanna Andresen — one of the visitors' standout performers early on — netted three of her side's first five goals, and when Lilli Frey made it 3–2 in the 4th minute, BSV briefly led.

After the break, the hosts turned the screw. Within eight minutes of the restart, THC had stretched the lead to five (20–15, 38th minute). The gap never dipped below four again.

The opening eight minutes of the second half. Thüringer HC came out of the tunnel with clear intent, converting a one-score half-time lead into a five-goal buffer by the 38th minute. Buxtehuder SV called a timeout at 27–21 in the 48th minute, but the damage was done. Luca Csikos pushed the lead to double figures in the 57th minute (34–24), and though BSV scored three late consolation goals, the result was never in doubt after that spell.

• Levke Kretschmann (THC) — A joint-top scorer with six goals, including a coolly converted 7-metre penalty in the 47th minute. The former BSV player had extra motivation against her old club and delivered.
• Sabrina Tröster (THC) — Also netted six times in a fine Bundesliga debut for the hosts after joining from Metzingen over the summer.
• Luca Csikos (THC) — The Hungarian talent, signed from FTC Budapest, came off the bench to score the goal that made it 34–24 — THC's largest lead of the afternoon.
• Johanna Andresen (BSV) — The bright spot for Buxtehude, contributing three first-half goals before THC's defence tightened after the break.

The 34–27 scoreline (15–10 at the break) tells a clear story: a tight first half where Buxtehude competed, followed by THC dominance. The hosts scored 19 goals in the second half while conceding 17 — but the game flow mattered more than the raw tally. THC effectively killed the contest between minutes 30 and 38, turning a five-goal lead into a match-winning cushion. Buxtehude's attack, which managed only 10 first-half goals against a well-organised THC defence, improved to 17 after the break but never seriously threatened the deficit.

For context, among the 12 Bundesliga Women sides this season, the 34 goals THC scored was the third-highest matchday total behind Borussia Dortmund (36) and Blomberg-Lippe (37). THC's +7 goal difference was the fourth-best on the opening weekend.

Thüringer HC sit fourth in the early table with two points and a +7 goal difference after Matchday 1. For a side that finished third last season — and added silver from the EHF European League and the Supercup — this was the statement start they wanted after a summer of heavy squad turnover that saw nine arrivals and nine departures.

Buxtehuder SV, playing under new head coach Jonas Schlender in his Bundesliga head-coaching debut, are 9th after the opening round. They next face newly-promoted HC Leipzig at home on Saturday 5 September (16:00). THC travel to VfL Oldenburg on Sunday 6 September (16:30).

A deserved, professional win for Thüringer HC. The first 25 minutes offered Buxtehude hope, but THC's superior depth and second-half intensity told. For BSV, the positives came in patches — Andresen's early work and a DHB-Pokal 50–18 win last week showed potential — but closing the gap to the Bundesliga's upper tier remains a work in progress under Schlender.
