Kolding vs Skive

Kolding seized control in the first half, building a 19–16 lead at the break through efficient shooting led by Andreas Aagreen, who converted all seven of his attempts. The home side's advantage grew to as many as four goals early in the second period, with playmakers Kristoffer Vestergaard and Hjalte Langmack contributing four assists each.

But the match turned chaotic in the final quarter. Kolding lost Benjamin Pedersen to a straight red card in the 27th minute, then Cornelius Kragh Aastrup to a three-two-minute suspension accumulation sending-off in the 41st minute. Skive, sensing an opportunity, stormed back.

Mathias Nikolajsen led the Skive charge with a game-high nine goals from 13 shots. Nicolaj Spanggaard pulled Skive to within one goal with his fourth of the night — but then received a red card of his own with 24 seconds remaining, ending his side's hopes of fashioning a late equaliser. Kolding goalkeeper Victor Skjellerup Bang, who made 12 saves, was the difference-maker in a one-goal game.

Skive's Spanggaard was sent off at 59:36 with the score at 35–34. Playing a man down in the final seconds, the visitors could not generate a clear scoring chance. Kolding held on through the final buzzer to claim both points in a game where they had been outnumbered for significant stretches.

Andreas Aagreen (Kolding) — Player of the Match. The backcourt man scored 7 goals from 7 shots, a perfect 100% efficiency rate that kept Kolding's scoreboard ticking in every critical phase.

Victor Skjellerup Bang (Kolding) — 12 saves from 43 shots (27.9%), including one penalty stop. His performance was the single biggest factor in a one-goal victory.

Mathias Nikolajsen (Skive) — A match-high 9 goals from 13 shots (69.2%), including two penalties, plus four assists. The playmaker was Skive's primary offensive weapon throughout.

Joachim Hyldgaard (Skive) — Registered an extraordinary 8 assists from the backcourt while scoring 4 goals from 5 shots. His distribution kept Skive in touching distance.

The 35–34 scoreline tells only part of the story. Both teams shot at elite efficiency — Kolding 78%, Skive 73% — but the margin came from the goalkeeping duel. Bang's 12 saves gave Kolding a clear advantage over Skive's duo of Kasper Larsen (6 saves, 21.4%) and Simon Toft (4 saves, 23.5%). The discipline chart, however, was lopsided: Kolding received three red cards (Pedersen straight red, Kragh Aastrup three-two-minute accumulation, both effectively man-down for extended spells) against Skive's one (Spanggaard), yet survived.

Kolding make a winning start to life back in the Herre Handbold Ligaen after securing promotion in May 2026 with a 33–30 win over HØJ Elite. It was their first top-flight match since relegation in spring 2025, ending a run of 41 consecutive seasons in the top division. Skive, who also earned promotion alongside Kolding, will rue Spanggaard's late dismissal in what was an evenly matched contest between two promoted sides. The attendance of 1,276 at Sydbank Arena reflected strong local interest in the club's return.

Kolding's next fixture is away to TTH Holstebro on 30 August 2026. Skive host Sønderjyske on the same date.

A fitting opener for two promoted teams: high-scoring, chaotic, and decided by fine margins. Kolding's superior goalkeeping and Aagreen's flawless finishing made the difference, but Skive proved they will be no pushovers this season. The red-card count — three to one — is an area Anders Eggert's side must address quickly.
