The final shot count (PSG 40–36) reflects a balanced contest, but Solé's three penalties — each one a pressure kick under the five-second limit — gave PSG the edge.

PSG's sixth Trophée des Champions title draws them level with their own record as the competition's most successful club. For captain Luka Karabatic — playing his final professional season at 38 — it was a record-extending moment in a career that includes 16 French league titles across both Montpellier and Paris.

The defeat snaps Montpellier's run of three consecutive final victories against France's elite (Coupe de France 2025 vs PSG, Trophée des Champions 2025 vs PSG, Coupe de France 2026 vs Nantes). Erick Mathé's side had beaten PSG 29–23 in this fixture 12 months ago.

Both sides now turn to the Daikin StarLigue title race, which begins next week.
