Grastorps vs Boras

A scoreless first period gave little hint of the drama to come, with both teams feeling their way into the game after the summer break. Grästorps, playing their first pre-season fixture under newly returned head coach Andreas Appelgren, absorbed early pressure but struggled to generate offence.

For Grästorps, the performance offered encouragement despite the loss. Appelgren's side showed defensive structure against a team expected to challenge for the division title, and the equaliser demonstrated resilience. The key question for Grästorps will be whether they can generate more offensive volume — 20 shots on home ice is below where they will need to be when the league season starts.

Next fixtures: Grästorps travel to Mariestad on 2 September before hosting Kungälv on 9 September. Borås host Tranås AIF on 27 August, then face IF Troja-Ljungby in a home-and-away set on 4 and 9 September.

A competitive pre-season friendly that told us more about both sides than many pre-season games do. Grästorps can take defensive organisation and fight from this; Borås will note that their superior depth and shot volume ultimately prevailed, but they need more efficiency on the powerplay before the real business begins.
