Spisska Nova Ves vs DEAC

The hosts wasted no time establishing control. Kevin Cormier opened the scoring in the 7th minute, converting from close range off a feed from Danick Martel and Denis Hodas. Cormier doubled the lead in the 15th minute, but DEAC responded immediately — Patrik Kiss pulled one back just 42 seconds later at 14:56, making it 2–1.

Patrik Števuliak restored the two-goal cushion at 17:34 (assisted by Romaňák and Džugan), sending Spišská into the first intermission up 3–1.

The second period was a cascade of goals. Denis Hodas struck twice in quick succession — at 20:54 (from Žiak) and 26:11 (from Cormier) — pushing the lead to 5–1. Patrik Kiss answered for DEAC at 28:58 (Rajmund, Shenfeld) for 5–2, but Spišská replied with two goals in 36 seconds: Števuliak at 33:11 (Šramaty, Mack), then Yannick Saulnier at 33:47 (Martin, Romaňák) to make it 7–2. Krisztián Németh cut it to 7–3 at 38:29 before the horn.

The third period followed a similar rhythm. Marek Šramaty scored at 46:13 (Števuliak) and Michal Frankovič added a shorthanded strike at 49:58 for 9–3. DEAC showed fight late, with Balázs Varga (55:41) and Patrik Kiss completing his hat-trick (56:54) narrowing it to 9–5, but Matej Giľák capped the scoring at 57:39 with a wrist shot past Zoltán Hetényi for the final 10–5.

The 34th-minute sequence decided the contest. With the score 5–2, Spišská struck twice in under a minute — Števuliak at 33:11 and Saulnier at 33:47 — to open a 7–2 lead. DEAC never got within four goals again. The burst turned what was still a contest into a rout before the second intermission.

Patrik Kiss (DEAC) — Hat-trick (15', 29', 57') was the lone bright spot for the visitors. His three goals accounted for 60% of DEAC's output.

The 8:2 penalty differential tells a one-sided story: Spišská spent far more time shorthanded (16 minutes) than DEAC (6 minutes, including a 2+2 for Németh), yet scored three shorthanded goals to the visitors' zero. That 3–0 short-handed margin was the statistical headline — the Slovaks were more dangerous with a man down than DEAC were on the power play, where the visitors managed just one goal from three opportunities.

The 10–5 aggregate (previous three meetings averaged 6.3 goals total) was the highest-scoring encounter in this nascent rivalry, surpassing the 5–3 result in 2024.

Spišská Nová Ves continue their preseason build-up under head coach Jakub Petr with a 2–1 record in friendlies, having beaten Tychy 5–4 on 21 August and lost 1–2 to Michalovce on 18 August. Their next outing is a home fixture against Polish side Cracovia Krakow on Friday 29 August.

DEAC, coached by Artyom Vaszjunyin, were playing their first of five scheduled pre-season games. They return to Debrecen to host Michalovce on 1 September, then face the same opponent away on 3 September before closing preparation against UTE (11 September) and DVTK (13 September). The Erste Liga regular season starts 18 September at home against SC Csíkszereda.

A glorified exhibition drill for Spišská, who found the net at will against a DEAC side clearly early in their preparation cycle. The shorthanded production is a useful sign of depth for Petr's squad; the 10-goal total inflates expectations that will reset once the Tipos Extraliga season begins. For DEAC, the sole positive was Patrik Kiss's finishing — everything else needs structural work before the Erste Liga opener.
