Vsetin vs AZ Havirov

Havířov came flying out of the blocks. Jakub Koudelný opened the scoring at 3:16, and just over two minutes later Vojtěch Šuhaj made it 2-0 at 5:19 — two goals from the visitors' first two shots on target, leaving the home crowd stunned.

Vsetín settled and pulled one back through Štěpán Matějček at 10:07, with the period ending 2-1 to Havířov.

The second period belonged to the visitors. Šuhaj struck again at 32:43, bursting clear on a breakaway, drawing Vsetín goalkeeper Miroslav Svoboda to the ice before lifting the puck over his pad. The assist went to René Kubíček and David Chroboček.

Jakub Mrva made it 4-1 at 37:31, scrambling the puck home from the slot after Ondřej Ševčík's feed during a sustained offensive-zone shift.

Vsetín came out for the third period with renewed energy. Tomáš Jandus pulled one back at 43:58, finishing from the slot with assists from Petr Straka and Matějček. They pushed for more — Lukáš Klhůfek hit the crossbar in the dying seconds, and Petr Straka rattled the post while shorthanded at 52:37 — but Havířov goalkeeper Maxim Žukov stood firm.

A mass brawl erupted at the final buzzer as tempers boiled over.

Šuhaj's second goal early in the middle frame was decisive. Vsetín had survived the first-period blitz and were growing into the game, but the visitors' second-period efficiency — two goals from limited chances — restored their three-goal cushion just when the home side sensed a way back.

Štěpán Matějček (Vsetín) — Scored Vsetín's first goal and assisted on Jandus's second, the creative hub of the home side's attack.

Petr Straka (Vsetín) — Active throughout, hit both the post and the crossbar and assisted on Jandus's goal. Unlucky not to score.

The 4-2 scoreline flatters Havířov's territorial play less than it rewards their ruthlessness. The visitors scored twice in the opening six minutes from limited possession, and again early in the second period on a breakaway — all three were clinical strikes from relatively few high-danger chances. Vsetín controlled long stretches of the third period and created multiple Grade-A looks (Straka's post, Klhůfek's crossbar, Matějček's slot chance at 30:29) but found Žukov in top form. The shot-attempt differential in the third favoured the home side heavily, but the damage was already done.

Havířov remain unbeaten in pre-season (6-0-0) and will take that momentum into the Maxa liga season opener on 5 September. Vsetín, now 3-3-0 in friendlies, still have work to do in the final week of preparation, particularly in converting territorial dominance into goals — a theme noted by local media after their Krušovice Cup win last week.

Vsetín's next friendly is against Frýdek-Místek (TBC). Havířov close their pre-season programme before the league starts on 5 September.

This was a tale of two efficiencies. Havířov took their chances with brutal effectiveness in the first two periods; Vsetín dominated the third but could not close the gap. The visitors' perfect pre-season builds real belief ahead of their Maxa liga return, while Vsetín still have puzzle pieces to fit together in attack.
