Monaco 7s vs Stade Toulousain 7s

Toulouse, who had needed extra time to see off Vannes in the quarter-finals earlier in the day, started faster. Olympic gold medallist Nelson Epée crossed after just two minutes to give Stade Toulousain a 5–0 lead.

Monaco's response was emphatic. South African speedster Christopher Kachungunu scored two tries in quick succession as the Monegasques ran in three superb scores to surge into a 21–5 lead after seven minutes. The "Rocher machine" had clicked into gear.

Toulouse refused to fold and fought back to 21–17 at one stage, but Monaco showed the composure that has made them the dominant force in French sevens, closing out the semi-final 26–17.

The seven-minute burst between minutes three and ten swung the match decisively. After Epée's opener threatened an upset, Monaco's three-try response — capped by Kachungunu's double — turned a 0–5 deficit into a 21–5 lead in roughly the time it takes to play a period of regular rugby. Toulouse had no answer to the pace and finishing quality, and the 16-point margin proved enough even after the late Toulouse fightback.

Christopher Kachungunu (Monaco 7s) — The South African was the game's decisive individual, scoring two of Monaco's three first-half tries. His finishing was clinical and his pace stretched Toulouse's defensive line beyond breaking point.

Nelson Epée (Stade Toulousain 7s) — The Olympic champion made the earliest impact of any player on the pitch, scoring inside two minutes. He continued to threaten throughout but could not find enough support to sustain the challenge.

Gaspard Lalli (Monaco 7s) — Stepped up in the absence of regular captain Demai-Hamecher, playing a key creative role in the build-up play that unpicked the Toulouse defence. Lalli would go on to captain the side in the final too.

Monaco's 26–17 scoreline reflected a match they controlled for the middle phase. After conceding first, they scored 21 unanswered points in a devastating spell that effectively ended the contest by half-time. Toulouse's late response narrowed the final margin but never threatened to overturn it. Monaco's ability to absorb pressure and strike at pace — the hallmark of quality sevens — was the statistical story behind the scoreboard.

Monaco's victory in the Biarritz opener (completed with a 21–12 win over Toulon in the final) secured their place in the 2027 Supersevens grand final at Plénitude Arena (formerly Paris La Défense Arena) on 6 February 2027. The win extended Monaco's dominant head-to-head record over Stade Toulousain 7s to 5–0 since their first meeting in 2021.

For Stade Toulousain 7s, elimination in the semi-finals leaves them with one more qualifying opportunity — the Pau stage on 28–29 August 2026 — to reach the grand final.

Monaco showed why they are the team to beat in French sevens, even without their captain. The quickfire three-try burst was sevens execution at its highest level. Toulouse had the quality to trouble them but not the depth to sustain it. One-sided on the scoreboard for the critical phase, the 26–17 scoreline flattered the contest's closeness.
