Enisey vs Strela

Strela dominated the opening exchanges, with fly-half Pieter Steenkamp landing penalty goals in the 6th and 12th minutes to give the visitors a 6-0 lead. Enisey capitalised when Strela lock Nikita Vavilin was shown a yellow card on 17 minutes — lock Evgeny Yelgin powered over for the game's first try on 22 minutes and Timur Maslov converted to put the hosts 7-6 ahead.

Timur Maslov (Enisey) — The fly-half was flawless off the tee with three conversions from three attempts, and his tactical control in the second half helped Enisey maintain pressure inside Strela's half. Player of the match.

Pieter Steenkamp (Strela) — A perfect first half with three penalties and a conversion kept Strela in control before the break, but he and his team could not sustain it.

Denis Simplichevich (Enisey) — The centre's try early in the second half was the spark Enisey needed, a powerful finish through the middle that cut the deficit and swung momentum.

Ramil Gaisin (Enisey) — The replacement fly-half added two critical penalty goals in the final 10 minutes, denying Strela any route back and also denying them a defensive bonus point.

The half-time scoreline (7-16) accurately reflected Strela's first-half dominance at the set piece — Davudov noted "100% lineouts, advantage in the scrum" — and Steenkamp's reliable goal-kicking. But the second-half shutout (20-0) tells the real story. Enisey's 3-1 try count showed their ability to finish chances; Strela's failure to score a single point after the 39th minute despite multiple entries into the 22 highlighted their attacking bluntness in the second period. At full-time Enisey had scored 362 points in the season (36.2 per match) while Strela's 269 (26.9 per match) reflects their greater reliance on goal-kicking rather than try-scoring (Redyarsk.ru match centre).

The result reshuffled the top three. Enisey moved to 37 points from 10 matches (7W 1D 2L), leapfrogging Strela who drop to third on 34 points from 10 games (7W 1D 2L). Dynamo Moscow remain leaders on 45 points from 11 matches, two wins clear.

Strela suffered only their second defeat of the championship — their other loss was 10-31 away at Dynamo Moscow. Enisey extended their unbeaten home record in the head-to-head and have now won 11 of 13 meetings since 2020.

This was a game of two starkly different halves, but Enisey's second-half intensity — 20 unanswered points in a 10-minute spell — was decisive enough to feel emphatic rather than fortunate.
