USA Perpignan, who lost their opening match in Pau to Racing 92 Sevens earlier in the afternoon, face an uphill battle to reach the knockout rounds. Only the eight best-ranked teams across the two summer stages qualify for the Paris finale.

The Barbarians arrived in Pau as three-time champions and played like it. Perpignan lacked the defensive cohesion to contain a side that blends Top 14 talent with specialist Sevens nous. The margin was fair, and the result never looked in doubt after the opening five minutes.
