Algeria's entire starting unit delivered a balanced attacking performance. Algeria conceded an average of just 16 points per set, suggesting their serve-and-block pressure forced Senegal into error-heavy sequences. For context, this was the same Senegal side that had already lost 3-0 to both Egypt and Uganda in the group stage — Egypt beat them with even wider margins (25-12, 25-10, 25-8 per social media reports from the tournament). Algeria's victory maintained the pattern of Senegal being swept by every opponent in the knockout bracket.

Algeria advance to the quarterfinals, joining Uganda and Cameroon who had already secured their last-eight spots earlier on Saturday. The tournament carries enormous stakes: the champion qualifies directly for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, and the top three finishers all earn places at the 2027 FIVB Volleyball World Cup, co-hosted by the United States and Canada.
