Bulgaria seized control from the start, edging a tight first set 25:23. Turkey struck back in the second, levelling the match at 1-1 with a commanding 25:18 win. But the Bulgarian response was emphatic: Stanev's team dominated the third set 25:19 to regain the lead, then closed out the match with a 25:20 fourth-set victory, never allowing Turkey to force a decider.

The second-set loss could have unsettled Bulgaria after such a tight opening frame, but they regrouped in the interval and came out with a completely different energy in the third set. Bulgaria built an early lead and never looked back, dictating play from the service line and at the net. Once they went up 2-1 in sets, Turkey's momentum evaporated.

Bulgaria's 3-0 start and nine points make them one of the strongest pool winners heading into the knockout phase. The top seed from Pool D earns a theoretically favourable Round of 16 draw against a fourth-placed team from another group.

Turkey (1-2, 4 points) still advanced as the third-placed team from Pool D and will face a pool winner in the eighthfinals — a far steeper path that begins with a knockout match in the coming days.

For Bulgaria, the minimum target set before the tournament — a top-eight finish — is now within reach. They entered the championship fresh off winning the Balkan U17 title earlier this summer, and their unbeaten group stage suggests they can aim higher.
