Iran entered as heavy favourites having swept Pakistan 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-18) in Pool E six days earlier. But this Pakistan side had transformed since that meeting. After trailing Egypt 0-2 in the Round of 16, they stormed back for a 3-2 (17-25, 21-25, 25-18, 25-15, 15-12) victory — a comeback that announced their arrival on the global stage.

Sina Hazrati (Iran U17) — The captain and opposite spiker was Iran's most consistent attacking threat through the tournament. He posted 20 points in the Round of 16 win over Chinese Taipei and delivered another high-impact performance in the quarterfinal.

Arash Ashrafi (Iran U17) — The outside hitter provided essential support, particularly in the fifth set. Ashrafi scored 16 points in the pool-stage sweep of Pakistan and replicated that level when it mattered most.

Muhammad Waleed Khan (Pakistan U17) — Pakistan's leading scorer in the Round of 16 comeback against Egypt (17 points) carried that form into the quarterfinal, providing consistent attacking output.

Fahad Ali (Pakistan U17) — A key contributor who helped ignite Pakistan's fightback, adding offensive depth alongside Khan and captain Muhammad Irfan.

Iran entered having won all four previous fixtures 3-0, while Pakistan needed five sets in their Round of 16 match. The quarterfinal continued a rivalry that has produced four meetings in under a year between these Asian programmes. Iran swept the pool-stage meeting, but Pakistan had won the Asian U16 Championship final in 2025 — this was their first knockout meeting at world level, and it lived up to the history.

For Pakistan, elimination marked the end of a tournament that announced their emergence. They recovered from a pool-stage loss to Iran, beat Chinese Taipei, overcame Egypt in a five-set thriller, and pushed the tournament's last unbeaten side to the limit in the quarterfinals.

This was the match the bracket deserved — two Asian rivals with recent history, contrasting paths through the knockout stage, and a contest that needed five sets to separate them.
