France closed out the set 25-21 to take a 2-1 lead, leaving Brazil needing to win the fourth to force a tiebreak.

France showed no signs of letting up. In the fourth set, the French seized control from the baseline and maintained a narrow but persistent lead. Brazil scrapped for every point — Lorenzo José Trentin and Arthur de Paula Aguiar Lima tried to pull the South Americans back into it — but France reached match point first and sealed the set 25-21 to claim the 3-1 victory.

Bonnard was once again France's most reliable attacking weapon, following up his 24-point quarterfinal performance with another match-leading tally in the semifinal. Jaden Ebagne Yon provided strong support on the opposite side, while Noé Sognon's blocking and defensive reads at the net helped neutralise Brazil's middle attack.

For Brazil, Lucas Abreu was a force at the net with multiple blocks, and Arthur de Paula Aguiar Lima led the Brazilian scoring effort, but the team could not sustain its first-set level across the four sets.

France advance to the gold-medal match of the 2026 FIVB Volleyball Boys' U17 World Championship, scheduled for Saturday 29 August at 14:00 local time in Doha. They will face the winner of the second semifinal between Iran and Argentina.

Brazil drop into the third-place play-off on Saturday 29 August at 11:00 local time, where they will face the loser of Iran vs Argentina.

France have been immaculate throughout the tournament, losing only one set across five matches — that first set to Brazil in this semifinal. Their ability to reset after dropping a set has been a hallmark of their Doha campaign.

The first set underscored Brazil's blocking strength as they outworked France at the net, but France's adjustment from the second set onwards — quicker transitions and wider distribution in attack — flipped the match. France claimed three straight sets after the opening loss, with the third and fourth sets decided by four points each, reflecting composure in tight moments rather than outright dominance.

France's serve-and-pass game improved markedly after the first set, taking Brazil's middle blockers out of system and reducing their blocking effectiveness. The service pressure forced Brazil into predictable attacking patterns that the French defence read well.
